funny little tumblr

My name is Kirsten. I'm a dreamer, writer, filmmaker, journalist, blogger, activist, half-baked photographer and social media junkie.

I usually blog at funny little world, but use this Tumblr to share much more random things that I come across.

#2012films - 5: The Descendants
It was okay but it wasn’t as good as I thought it was going to be. There were some pretty good moments but it did stop and start a little bit. I really loved the music, though! Shailene Woodley was lovely. View high resolution

My work portfolio. I’ve shifted it around and fiddled with it lots, but I think I’ve settled now.

#2012films - 4: The Flowers of War
Good storytelling and hurray for Joshua Bell as the solo violin, but on hindsight not the greatest film to usher the Chinese New Year in with. Proper depressed now. View high resolution

#2012films - 3: The Skin I Live In
A fantastic film, artful and tense, but that was some really fucked up shit. Antonio Banderas was awesome, and awesomely creepy. View high resolution

#2012books - 2: The Paris Wife by Paula McLain
I didn’t know much (or anything, really) about Hemingway and his wives before this, so this novel about him and his first wife Hadley Richardson was something completely new, and I learnt a lot about their story. It was beautiful and heartbreaking, and above all, real.

No death penalty for Atiqah

I’m so tired and sick from working round the clock, but this news has brightened things up so much.

It’s not often that a death row inmate actually gets “saved”. Anti-death penalty activists like us learn to deal with the failure and loss and heartbreak of executions. When news like this comes, it’s pretty amazing and gives us strength and hope for future cases.

A little girl will not be an orphan, and Atiqah will be able to come home.
